Tissue testing
Tissue testing combined with soil testing will help you get an overall picture of nutrient health, however, these two tests serve quite different purposes. A soil test diagnoses nutrients in the soil whereas a tissue test analyses the amount of nutrients within the tissue.
-
It is recommended that tissue testing be completed 1 or 2 times per year and can be taken at the same time as soil testing, at the beginning and the end of the growing season. Just as soil changes over time, tissue has shifting needs as it goes through periods of stress and relief. We therefore recommend you conduct additional tissue tests after any period of significant turf stress.
Wait up to 7 days following the application of any fertiliser or foliar products prior to collecting tissue samples. This will ensure that all nutritional and plant protection products have been absorbed and synthesized by the plant, leaving you with a true reflection of your plant health.
When collecting a tissue sample, please ensure that it is placed in a paper bag. Using a paper bag is important as it allows the clippings to breathe as they dry out.
-
Once the clippings are collected, remove unwanted debris or leftover remnants from granular fertilizers, which can easily throw off the analysis, as well as any other unwanted grasses or greens which might have made their way into the clippings. Fill the paper bag about 1/3 full of pure turf clippings.
Once the tissue samples have been collected, send them to us at our warehouse address below and we will get them to the lab for analysis.Once the lab provides us with the results, we will contact you with a breakdown of the results and a detailed program based around your specific nutritional needs.
